Business Obligations in the New Financial Year

July 3, 2022

We hope that 2023 brings you and your business financial success.
There are a few business obligations that we wanted to ensure you are aware of. We note that they may not all apply to you.

Did you know that you can
see this month’s important dates on our website, this will continue to be updated each month!
You can also download and customise your own
 important dates calendar here.

Single Touch Payroll (STP) Finalisation

STP Finalisation must be completed by 14th July 2022. This replaces PAYG Payment summaries (once called Group Certificates), so your employees can access their income statements to complete their 2022 personal tax obligations.
If your business only employs you and your family members, you have until 30 September to complete your STP Finalisation.

You must ensure your STP data is correct before making your finalisation declaration in your payroll software.
If you would like us to review your STP data and manage the STP Finalisation process for you,
please contact us. You will receive a proposal outlining our fee.

NSW Payroll Tax Annual Return

If you are a NSW employer registered for payroll tax, your annual reconciliation/return is due for lodgement and payment by
28th July 2022.

If your business was eligible for a 2021 Covid-19 Business Grant or JobSaver payment your annual payroll tax liability will be reduced by 50%. If you are a grouped employer, this assessment is required for each individual business.

If you would like us to manage the preparation and lodgement of your NSW Payroll Tax Annual Return on your behalf,
please contact us. A fee of $300 + GST will apply.

If you are not currently registered for payroll tax and see that your total
payroll (including superannuation and some other payments) has exceeded $1.2M for the year ended 30 June 2022, you are obligated to register for payroll tax.

Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR)

If your business is in the following industries, you must report
payments made to contractors and subcontractors:

  • Building & Construction services
  • Cleaning services
  • Courier services
  • IT services
  • Security, Investigation or Surveillance services

This must be done by 28th August 2022.
Please note that even if you did not engage any subcontractors during the year, if your business operates in the above industries, you must submit a non-lodgement advice.

If you would like us to manage this obligation on your behalf,
please contact us. You will receive a proposal outlining our fee.

Long Service Leave (LSL) Employer Return

For NSW employers in the Building & Construction or Contract Cleaning Industry your
Long Service Leave Employer Return must be lodged by 31st July 2022.
If you would like us to manage this obligation on your behalf,
please contact us. A fee of $190 + GST will apply.
