NSW Extension of Payroll Tax Deferrals & Waivers

September 7, 2021

We previously wrote to you regarding NSW payroll taxpayers being granted a 25% reduction and payment deferral to October 2021, these support measures have been extended.

Monthly payroll tax payers now have until 14 January 2022 to pay any payroll tax due for the months of July to December 2021. We recommend lodging your monthly payroll tax figures as usual (if we do this for you this will continue), however we advise that you do not need to schedule any payments through Payroll Tax online (or make payment through any other means) until 14 January 2022.

Revenue NSW also previously has announced that businesses that experienced a decline in revenue of 30% or more will be eligible for a payroll tax reduction of 25%, this has now been increased to 50%. Note that this reduction will be calculated when you (or we on your behalf) lodge your 2022 Annual Payroll Tax Reconciliation in July 2022.

Note the payroll tax threshold is $1.2M for the 2022 financial year.

Note that any payment due for your 2021 Annual Payroll Tax Reconciliation is due 7th October 2021. Please ensure you schedule this payment to avoid any late fees and penalties.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us.
