As mentioned in our webinar, here are your Next Steps in moving towards STP Phase 2:

1. Review your employees’ awards to understand what they should be paid, and why.

It is important that each of your employees are being paid as per the award that covers their role. You also need to understand the reason your employee receives any payments under the award – this understanding will assist you when it comes to categorising any allowances (if applicable).

2. Ensure all effective hourly rates are above the award (even closely held).

You don’t want to accidentally pay someone an hourly rate that is below the award. For example, paying a spouse a nominal annual salary needs to be structured in a way that the hourly rate is above award.

3. Review and clean up your employees and pay items

If you have any old pay items that you no longer use, delete them or mark them as inactive. You will also need to ensure that any employees who no longer work for you have been terminated in your payroll software. This will reduce the number of employees and pay items that need to be updated for STP Phase 2.

4. After completing the above steps, you can proceed with updating your payroll software to STP Phase 2.

Alternatively, you may like SaabTeece to assist you with moving to STP Phase 2.
If so, please complete this short form so SaabTeece can send you an engagement letter outlining the scope of work and associated fee.

Please note, we will be prioritising those software uses that have 31 December 2022 as the due date (Xero users will be contacted in the new year).
If you have more than one business with employees, please complete a separate form for each business.

As our webinar was part of the NSW Government’s Small Business Month; we kindly ask you to complete their short survey here.
